United Church of the Valley highly values music and its connection to the spiritual life.  We have a wonderful program led by our talented Music Director Lynne Bradley.  There is a place for you in our musical program!  From children’s chimes to adult vocals, there are opportunities for all.  Lynne can even help you discover your own talents!   She can be contacted by email  or 760-723-8758.  Programming runs the academic school year, from September through June.  Summer music is less structured, but still offers an opportunity to explore musical talents.

The arts, and especially music, are important in the life of the United Church of the Valley.  In worship, we sing praise and prayer.  We sing in a diversity of styles--hymns, praise and spiritual songs, gospel, jazz, world music, classical and contemporary—but, whatever the style, we sing our faith.  Music often allows us to experience God more directly and we find that many times we are able to say things in song that we cannot say in speech.

In our daily lives, the repertoire of songs that we have learned and carry in our hearts can help heighten our joys and sustain us in times of trouble.

Because we value music so highly, one of our missions is to provide opportunities for children and adults in our communities to discover, explore and develop their musical gifts.  Our programs are open to all without fee (donations are always gratefully accepted). All we ask is a commitment to regular attendance and participation.

Our children’s programs are all ecumenical—open to all children in the community who want to learn about music, find and develop talents and experience the special joy of making music together.  Spiritual music is at the core of our experiences.  In a time when spiritual music is often excluded from school music experiences,  the opportunity to learn the rich heritage of spiritual music and be uplifted and comforted by it is a special gift that we can offer to children in our community.

There are opportunities for everyone to make a Joyful Noise.  Youth & adult music programs will meet at The Community House, located at 24973 Washington Avenue, Murrieta.(across from the Murrieta Post Office) unless noted otherwise.   (See online calendar entry for map).  Please contact Lynne for more information on current rehearsal day and times for all choirs.

> MUSIC MAKERS is a program especially for Pre-School thru 1st grade children who sing, play instruments and learn basic music skills that can be a foundation for further exploration and musical development.  While performance is not a primary goal for this group, there are periodically opportunities to share what they have learned.

RAINBOW CHIMES which will meet at the same time as Music Makers, is designed to give our young children an introduction into ringing handchimes.  Basic music reading skills as well as bell ringing techniques are the focus of this group.

ALL GOD'S CHILDREN is for youth in grades 2-8 and HS Leaders.   This group seeks to develop choral, musical and personal skills necessary to learn and perform quality, challenging choral music in a variety of styles.  Dramatic presentations and musical plays often augment the choir’s regular choral repertoire.  In addition to singing, choir members often accompany their music with a variety of instruments, including chimes, handbells and an assortment of rhythmic and percussion instruments.  Kodaly and Orff methods of music education are regularly incorporated into rehearsals.  The choir’s mission is to nurture the personal, creative and spiritual growth of children and youth through music.

> JOYFUL RINGERS is a handbell ensemble for youth who want to learn to ring bells and further develop their musical skills.  We may also learn to play recorder.

> UCV CHOIR, a high school and adult choir which sings weekly during worship at the United Church of the Valley, also welcomes singers from all faiths.  Rehearsals are Thursdays 7:00-8:30 pm

TINTINNABULATORS, an adult hand bell ensemble, is also open to anyone in the community with handbell experience or a desire to learn.  Rehearsal times are after Sunday worship, select Sundays.

NEW DAY is a contemporary group, learning guitar and other rhythm instruments as well as vocals.  High school students and adults are most welcome.  Rehearsal times are yet to be determined.

Our JOYFUL NOISE MUSIC MINISTRY staff includes Julie Stevens, an experienced bell-ringer, who has lead our children's Rainbow Chime group.  We also will be looking for ways of involving talented instrumentalists in ensembles.

The director of JNMM programs, Lynne Bradley, has directed choirs at Fallbrook Union High School and in the Chicago area.  Choirs under her direction have sung in Europe, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, at national and regional choral and music conferences, in Carnegie Hall and on television.   A graduate of Northwestern University, Lynne sang for many years with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus.   She is a member of  ACDA, Chorister's Guild, MENC, AGEHR, and AOSA. She offers enthusiasm for choral music and understanding of it's value in the development of a sensitive, caring, and confident young person.

Children may register for any of the JOYFUL NOISE MUSIC MINISTRY programs at the first rehearsal they attend.  ALL GOD’S CHILDREN, JOYFUL RINGERS and NEW DAY welcome invitations to perform at churches and community groups.

For more information about the JNMM programs, call Lynne Bradley at (760)723-8758 or leave a message at the church office at (951) 698-1520 or e- mail.
